The Senior Salesforce Developer / Solutions Lead will serve as a senior technical resource supporting a designated business department while contributing to the broader Salesforce environment. This is a hands-on role for someone who can scope, design, build, and deliver complex Salesforce solutions. The person will work on larger initiatives, help define solution architecture, support release management, and evaluate how Salesforce should interact with other systems across our technology environment. The role requires strong technical judgment. The right candidate must be able to determine when Salesforce is the appropriate platform for a business need and when a solution should instead be handled through another application, integration, service, or workflow. This person will report to the Technical Lead and work closely with another Senior Salesforce Developer, Product, Operations, QA, internal technology resources, and external development partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery, scoping, and solution design for Salesforce initiatives.

• Translate business and operational requirements into technical designs, implementation plans, and estimates.

• Design scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performing Salesforce solutions.

• Determine whether requirements should be addressed through Salesforce configuration, custom development, integrations, or another system.

• Identify technical dependencies, platform limitations, risks, and tradeoffs before development begins.

• Create solution diagrams, data models, integration designs, and technical documentation.

• Partner with the Technical Lead on architecture decisions affecting shared systems and standards.

Salesforce Development & Configuration

• Design and build complex Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Salesforce Flow, SOQL, Platform Events, APIs, and other Salesforce technologies.

• Configure and maintain custom objects, fields, record types, validation rules, permission sets, queues, assignment rules, and security controls.

• Determine when declarative tools are appropriate and when custom development is required.

• Improve existing Salesforce functionality for performance, usability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Refactor or replace fragile automations and customizations.

• Build reusable components and development patterns.

• Review code and technical designs produced by internal and external developers.

Integrations & Data

• Design and support integrations between Salesforce and internal systems, third-party platforms, reporting tools, email workflows, and external data sources.

• Define data ownership, system-of-record responsibilities, synchronization rules, and exception handling.

• Work with REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, Platform Events, batch processing, and other integration patterns.

• Troubleshoot integration failures, duplicate records, incomplete data transfers, and synchronization issues.

• Ensure integrations have appropriate logging, monitoring, retry handling, and operational visibility.

• Determine when data or functionality should reside outside Salesforce to avoid unnecessary complexity.

Release Management & Quality

• Help establish and maintain a consistent Salesforce release process.

• Coordinate changes across development, testing, staging, and production environments.

• Support source control, branching, code review, deployment, rollback, and post-release validation.

• Assess release dependencies and potential conflicts across shared Salesforce functionality.

• Partner with QA on test coverage, acceptance criteria, regression requirements, and release readiness.

• Ensure Apex code has meaningful automated test coverage and follows Salesforce development standards.

• Improve visibility into failed automations, integration errors, scheduled jobs, and other critical issues.

• Participate in production incident investigation and root-cause analysis.

Project Scoping & Delivery

• Participate in discovery and translate business needs into technically viable initiatives.

• Break larger Salesforce projects into technical components, dependencies, milestones, and delivery phases.

• Provide realistic technical estimates and identify additional development or specialist requirements.

• Work with Product and Project Management to clarify requirements before development begins.

• Communicate technical risks and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Support initiatives from discovery and design through development, testing, release, and stabilization.

• Coordinate with internal teams and external development partners.

Platform Governance & Collaboration

• Follow technical standards established by the Technical Lead and broader Technology organization.

• Partner with other Salesforce developers on architecture, releases, dependencies, and development practices.

• Help establish reusable Salesforce standards for development, documentation, testing, and deployment.

• Ensure departmental solutions remain compatible with the broader Salesforce environment.

• Reduce unnecessary customization, duplicated functionality, and technical debt.

• Maintain documentation for configurations, code, integrations, architecture decisions, and releases.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Salesforce resources when needed.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce development, administration, or solution-design experience.

• Experience designing and delivering complex Salesforce solutions from discovery through production release.

• Advanced experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, Salesforce Flow, validation rules, asynchronous processing, and Salesforce security.

• Strong understanding of Salesforce data modeling, sharing architecture, roles, profiles, permission sets, and record-level access.

• Experience designing and supporting integrations using REST APIs, SOAP APIs, Platform Events, middleware, or similar integration patterns.

• Experience evaluating platform fit and determining when functionality should be built outside Salesforce.

• Strong understanding of Salesforce governor limits, bulk processing, performance, and scalable development practices.

• Experience with source control, code review, deployment pipelines, sandbox strategy, and Salesforce release management.

• Experience diagnosing production issues involving automation, custom code, integrations, permissions, and data.

• Experience reviewing technical designs and code from other developers.

• Ability to document solution architecture, integrations, data flows, dependencies, and technical decisions.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

• Salesforce Platform Developer I certification or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Ability to provide a minimum of 6 hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Salesforce Platform Developer II, Platform App Builder, Advanced Administrator, Service Cloud Consultant, or architecture-related certification.

• Experience serving as a Technical Lead or Salesforce Solution Architect.

• Experience with Salesforce DevOps tools, CI/CD, automated deployments, and release governance.

• Experience in healthcare, RCM, financial operations, claims, case management, or other complex operational environments.

• Experience with high-volume workflows, email ingestion, document workflows, deadline-driven processing, or rules-based case routing.

• Familiarity with Power BI, enterprise reporting, or data warehouse integrations.

• Experience working with distributed teams and external development partners.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior, hands-on Salesforce professional who combines strong development expertise with practical solution architecture skills.

You should be able to take a business problem, determine the right technical approach, build complex Salesforce functionality, and guide an initiative through architecture, development, testing, release, and stabilization.

You should also be comfortable challenging a requirement when Salesforce is not the right solution and recommending a simpler or more appropriate technical approach.
